Does This Sound Familiar?

Something significant has changed, and your usual decision-making cycle isn't fast enough to deal with it.

  • Decisions feel heavy, and they keep getting pushed to the next meeting
  • Staff, volunteers, clients and stakeholders are starting to feel unsettled
  • Messaging is unclear, and different people are saying different things
  • The uncertainty is spreading through the organisation
  • Your workload feels overwhelming without any brainspace to think clearly
  • There is a rough plan but it's not written down or keeps changing
  • Decisions and approvals are slow, making things worse

None of this means your organisation is failing. It means your context has shifted, and you haven't had the space to pause, get clear on what's actually happening and make the decisions that can't wait.

Facilitation in action

What Respond to Change Does

This program provides a calm, focused space for your leadership team to respond decisively before uncertainty spreads.

It's not a full strategic planning process. It's not crisis theatre. It's not a governance audit.

It's a structured reset that helps your leadership team clarify what's happening, make the key one to three decisions that matter most, ensure everyone is clear on the priorities, agree on new ways of working together and communicate with grounded confidence.

Three Clear Phases

1

Clarify

We work with key decision-makers to understand what's happening, what's at stake and what the facilitated day needs to focus on.

2

Decide

A structured, decision-focused day with your leadership team to make the critical decisions, agree on direction and establish clear messaging.

3

Reinforce

A concise reset action plan and follow-up call to make sure decisions stick and implementation stays on track.

Here's How It Works

Pre-Work

You complete a short intake questionnaire and we have a scoping call (30 to 45 minutes) with you or one of your key decision-makers. We review any relevant documents. This ensures Jodie comes in prepared and the day is focused, not reactive.

Facilitated Day (In Person or Virtually)

Jodie facilitates a structured, decision-focused session with your leadership team. Rob provides support. Together, we'll:

  • Get a shared understanding of the current situation (signal versus noise)
  • Identify the one to three decisions that matter most right now
  • Make those decisions
  • Agree on new ways of working together
  • Agree on immediate direction for the next 6 to 12 months
  • Establish clear, steady messaging so everyone is saying the same thing

Tension is gently contained and redirected toward shared decisions.

Reset Action Plan

Within five business days, we deliver a reset action plan (5 to 10 pages) summarising the decisions made, the agreed direction, accountability and messaging.

Follow-Up Call

We walk you through the action plan on a short call to make sure it's clear and ready to act on. Where specialist expertise is needed (communications, HR, IR, legal, finance), we can help clarify the brief and refer you to trusted professionals.

What You'll Be Able To Do

Is This Right for You?

This is for you if you're...

  • Dealing with a specific disruption or shift that needs a timely response
  • Willing to bring your leadership team together for a focused, decision-making day
  • After clear decisions and direction, not another talkfest
  • In the not-for-profit, social enterprise or purpose-driven business space
  • Needing to move faster than your normal decision-making cycle allows

This isn't for you if you're...

  • Looking for a full strategic planning process or governance review
  • In the middle of a crisis that needs specialist legal, HR or IR advice
  • After a general board development workshop or team-building day
  • Not ready to commit to making real decisions within a focused timeframe
The process is strengths-based and grounded in the realities purpose-led organisations face, including cumulative pressure from funding shifts, disasters, leadership change and community strain. It begins by recognising what your organisation has already navigated, and builds from there.

When to Respond

  • CEO/EO resignation
Your leader has moved on and the team's unsure what happens next.
  • Leadership or board turnover
New people at the table means priorities, relationships and expectations are shifting.
  • Revenue drops unexpectedly
A key income stream has dried up and you need to act before it becomes a crisis.
  • Funding uncertainty
Grants aren't confirmed, contracts are ending, and planning feels impossible.
  • Stakeholder pressure
Funders, members or partners are pushing in a direction that doesn't quite fit.
  • A major partner changes direction
A relationship you've relied on is no longer what it was, and it's affecting your work.
  • Unexpected opportunity
Something promising has landed but you're not sure if it's the right move right now.
  • Decision fatigue
Every choice feels heavy and your team is struggling to commit to a path forward.
  • Strategic drift
You're still busy, but the work no longer feels connected to where you're trying to go.

Some organisations use this program as a one-time intervention. Others come back every 18 to 24 months to step back, recalibrate and make sure their direction still fits their context.

Why Work With Us?

Jodie and Rob

We're Jodie and Rob, co-founders of Happy Changemakers and authors of Package Promote Scale. For over a decade we've worked with boards, leadership teams and executive teams across Australia's not-for-profit, social enterprise and purpose-driven business sectors.

We designed Respond to Change because we've seen, again and again, that confidence drops and strain builds when uncertainty sits too long without a response. This process gives your leadership team a structured way to move forward with clarity and calm.

Ready to Respond to Change?

When the direction is clear, good decisions are made, everyone is working together and your organisation can move forward with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

That's exactly the kind of situation this program is built for. The process helps you clarify what's actually happening so you can respond in proportion. If it turns out you need specialist support, we'll help you work out the right brief and point you in the right direction.

Respond to Change isn't a conflict resolution or mediation process. But tension usually comes up when people are frustrated and uncertain. Jodie is experienced at gently containing it and helping people focus on working together toward shared decisions. If deeper conflict work is needed, that would be a separate engagement with a trusted professional.

Activate Your Strategy is for organisations that already have strategic clarity and are ready for a structured twelve-month action plan. Respond to Change sits before that. It's for when something has shifted and you need to stabilise, decide and reset direction before you can plan ahead.

No. Respond to Change is designed for any purpose-led organisation, whether you're a not-for-profit, social enterprise, B Corp or purpose-driven business.

The follow-up call is included to make sure you don't lose momentum. If you need more support beyond that, we can talk about what would help, whether it's coaching, another engagement with us or a referral to a specialist.
